Fourth of July 1911, a patriotic group of "Free Staters" take a simultaneous chomp of Watermelon.

Welcome

Our members inherit the spirit of individualism from Warwick County residents of the past. Known for their independence from Federal and State government, preferring to run things for themselves, they were known as "Free Staters" for their wily disposition. WCHS honors these wily Warwickians, continuing their legacy.

"The records of the Clerk’s Office… extend back to about 1642. My hasty examination of the old and decayed records revealed some are like the exhumed volumes from the long-buried towns of the East and will scarce bear handling.”

Episcopal Bishop William Meade ca. 1857
